Loosely put an Anime Baka is someone who's crazy about Anime. However interpretation's may vary. I tend to think of Anime Baka as meaning something like drooling fan boy/girl.

Computer Fire Control

My general idea for fire control is to give fire commands as executed from the bridge in ship degrees given on a pot on the controller. A sliding pot would be used for range. With these two pots you could control every gun on the ship. Each gun would be able to compute it's offset based on range and adjust it's angle and depression.

I was thinking about what would happen to guns that were unable to fire in a given programmed angle. A secondary set of pot and sliding pot could allow for possible secondary fire from such guns allowing you to fire forward and rear ward at the same time. A switch, or a few switches could control fire control behavior between the two pot sets, splitting it up into front/rear, right/left etc.

My initial idea was a pair of pots for each turret, but this may be overkill. I just fear that a situation could develop where aiming a few guns independently could come in handy such as when you are between two ships and cannot bring all your guns to bear on one of them, but could bring the remaining guns to bear on the other one. Another solution would have a master pot set and little pot sets for each turret and a switch for each to have them linked or not. You could then unlink a specific turret at any time and set it blazing on a different target. In retrospect I think this is the most useful solution, but battle would tell.

Here is one design that I put to paper recently. It's not very good, but did start me thinking about what I wanted to see. The little ship with the pots is great, but I now think it will be a secondary control for controlling non-linked guns. It will need slide range pots for all turrets and a link on/off switch for each turret. So my current idea is a single pot/slider/fire button/ready light for linked guns, and then a secondary control pad like in the picture with switches to unlink specific guns.

In practice you would generally run fully linked, but would not be dead in the water if you encounter a unique situation. I do rather think that the linked fire control should operate in degrees/range from the bridge. The alternate option is to do it from one of the turrets, but what happens if that turret is unlinked? Giving the angle and range from the bridge each turret will have to compute it's angle and depression.
