Anime Baka

Anime - Japanese Animation
Baka - Japanese word for idiot or fool

Loosely put an Anime Baka is someone who's crazy about Anime. However interpretation's may vary. I tend to think of Anime Baka as meaning something like drooling fan boy/girl.

Wrote this a long time ago. Too short for an article:
Perverted - Hentai in Japanese. But the word pervert means deviation from normal or accepted. So, how can all guys be perverts?

Did you ever notice that the sex scene in the movie is generally at about the same realative place as the guitar solo in a song?

2010-12-01 Naming USB Hard Drives

USB Hard Drives

After black friday I have give or take 8 terabytes of hard drive space in multiple USB drives. Now which one is which and what does it have on it? This could be a problem. I have been renaming them to more task oriented names, but that even seems a bit confusing. A pair of my old drives were named Cagney and Lacy as they came ou...more

2010-11-19 Aural Vampire
Wednesday we went to see Aural Vampire at Slim's 333 club in San Francisco. It was a great show, but the seating for desirable was less than desirable. Bevy had trouble seeing over the crowd all night. A hydraulic unit that raises her electric wheelchair seat a couple feet would be great.

Aural Vampire gave a great show but as they were openers only got to do a couple songs. I was able to bu...more

2010-11-18 Everything Is Out Of Print
You ever hear that something is out of print and therefore rare and worth a lot of money? I've heard that a lot. Now it's true the thing is out of print but that's only half the truth. The other half is that so is everything else, or at least nearly everything else.

What it comes down to is most things are not made on a continuous basis. Books are a handy example. When a book is published the...more

2010-05-30 Fanime 2010
We are just catching a break at Fanime. We just went to the Yamaga Party at Fanime. It was pretty nice and I tried to broach some interesting topics with Yamagasama. I told him about my IJN Haguro and how well she fights. Here is a great shot of her getting sunk at Maker Fair:

Here's the rest of the album, th...more

2010-02-05 Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection
They did it, they finally did it "those bastards" (opps that's not what I want to convey). Leji and the owners and the producer have been deadlocked in court for ten years over rights to SBY. I see that there was even a short lived TV show (that crashed and died) a couple years ago. It's no wonder I can be so flippant to Robotech. I have to ask, would I be where I am doing what I'm doing with out ...more

2009-12-16 Tipping
It is my general opinion that the whole custom of Tipping is garbage. Unfortunately this garbage has integrated itself with the US society to the point that removing it would be akin to removing the salt from the sea. Really tipping is virtually meaningless if it is expected or demanded as it is now. And if you don't tip the waiter, he or she is still taxed on the amount. Government Enforced ...more

2009-12-08 Safeway Sucks!
This has bothered me for some time. I finally got around to writing about it. Safeway leaves it's lights on at night when they are closed. Not only that, but they generally don't post their hours on the store entrance. As they do stocking at night there are always a bunch of cars in their lot. It's a hit or miss thing, you never know if their open or not as there is no visual clue. There are thre...more

2009-09-16 Update
I've been very involved with cleaning up the old house and working on my new (to me) ship, the IJN Haguro.

We have finished the upstairs at the old hose and released it to the church. There are still a couple items to pick up that can not be gotten at right now, but it's essentially done. I'm continuing work on the downstairs, which is a real mess. I have no idea what I'm going to do with the...more

2009-09-16 IJN Haguro
My Haguro Painted

The IJN Haguro was a Heavy Japanese Cruiser built in 1925. She was in many a famous battle until sunk in 1945. My one was bought used and has banks of three single shot torpedo tubes on each side and a single BB cannon mounted on the front. She skims along quickly (35.5kts) and can outrun most other ships....more

2009-07-31 Just Say No to Phony Books
Just how many yellow pages are there? Too many. On the one hand you've got to love the entrepreneurial spirit. On the other hand it's just people out to scam other people. What I'm talking about is all the fake phone books that seem to be everywhere.

Imagine creating a need for a service where there is no need. Imagine convincing people that they free isn't good enough. Imagine contributing ...more
