Anime Baka

Anime - Japanese Animation
Baka - Japanese word for idiot or fool

Loosely put an Anime Baka is someone who's crazy about Anime. However interpretation's may vary. I tend to think of Anime Baka as meaning something like drooling fan boy/girl.

Wrote this a long time ago. Too short for an article:
Perverted - Hentai in Japanese. But the word pervert means deviation from normal or accepted. So, how can all guys be perverts?

Did you ever notice that the sex scene in the movie is generally at about the same realative place as the guitar solo in a song?

2009-06-01 Maker Fair
Bevy and I headed down to Maker Fair http://www.makerfaire.com/ in San Mateo this weekend. We met up with Jesse and Kat and helped with the running of Jesse's table/booth. It was a blast and Bevy even managed to have a lot of fun, but found the crowds overwhelming. There were plenty of crafts exhibits and booths to keep her occupied. By the end both Jesse and I both ended up with Subscriptions to Make Magazine. If you don't know about it, I feel that Make is one of the only magazines worth reading. It is full of projects/inventions that people have made; "you don't own it if you can't take it apart". http://www.makezine.com/

Jesse's booth was about a cool modification he made to the little Areo Ace http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_Ace planes we love so that Bevy could fly them. You see bevy is disabled and can only use one hand and is not even very strong in that hand. So using a controller with two sticks was well beyond what she could do. So Jesse set out to make an Areo Ace controllable one handed. He made a controller that worked with an accelerometer to pilot the craft by my merely tilting it. It worked great but was too heavy for Bevy to really fly. His second generation featured better electronic and used a WII controller which is small and light. Although we've yet to have any test flights with Bevy, it's really working great. He went well beyond with this mod and is directly controlling the radio, bypassing completely the normal controls.

Also at Maker Fair I managed to interact quite a lot with the Western Warship Combat Club http://www.westernwarshipcombat.com/ They are a group who build and fight scale remote control warships from the WWI and WWII era. I have long thought that this was something that I simply must do, but it's quite a trip down to San Jose just to check them out. I managed to watch two of their battles and interact quite a bit with several of the members. I'm now confident that once done with the whole fire cleanup I build a nice little warship in my garage and go fight with it. Bevy even watched a battle and said she understands the insanity and will end up beading and painting next to the pond.

You can see a lot of videos of there battles on google:

So my mind is abuzz with four channel radios, smoke emulators, battleship plans and other things. Now I just have to get the old house cleaned up and a couple of work projects finished. Oh and fix the bike I've been working on so I can take it to the CHP so they can verify the numbers for registration before the temp registration expires.
